Audit Review Report Released By DOI Inspector General
The Department of the Interior Inspector General recently conducted a review of the Minerals Management Service (MMS) Compliance and Asset Management Program (CAM), which has generated more than $3 billion in MMS audit and compliance collections that otherwise would likely not have been paid to the government.
Recently there have been a number of reports concerning various MMS issues. This section will highlight the facts behind the stories and fill in the gaps. This provides the total picture, which will give the public the opportunity to judge the issues for themselves. (3/16/2007)
Coastal Impact Assistance Program Allocation Amounts Now Available Six States to Share in Nearly $250 Million Annually
The MMS today announced in the Federal Register the availability of individual Coastal Impact Assistance Program (CIAP) allocation amounts for fiscal years 2007 and 2008. The amounts are what is available for approved uses by eligible states and coastal political subdivisions (CPSs).
There are six eligible Outer Continental Shelf (OCS) oil and gas producing states-- Alabama, Alaska, California, Louisiana, Mississippi and Texas—each with eligible CPSs, which are counties, parishes, or boroughs. (4/16/07)

| Clinical data manager: Job description and activities |
The role of a clinical data manager is to track and commit to a database the data gathered from clinical trials of new drugs. They must ensure the completeness, accuracy and consistency of the data so that it meets the standards of quality expected for reporting to regulatory bodies. As such, clinical data managers are key members of the multidisciplinary teams (often comprising clinicians, statisticians, clinical research associates and quality managers) involved in the setting up, running and reporting of clinical trials. A company's clinical trials database is considered to be one of its most valuable assets.
A clinical data manager processes clinical trial data using a range of computer applications and database systems to support collection, cleaning and management of subject or patient data. Typically this includes:
* contributing to the design of protocols, which define what and when data are to be collected; * designing and approving forms on which data are collected; * designing databases and ensuring they meet requirements for the entry and reporting of clinical data; * training clinical research associates to help improve the quality of the data being collected; * producing summaries and listings of safety and efficacy data; * testing new processes and systems for the management of clinical trials.
